Jan Uebelherr and Jackie Loohauis-Bennett, originally published in Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, May 1, 2009 To-do list 1 Everybody's talking about going green these days. Learn how to do it in all kinds of ways during Saturday's Green Living Festival at the newly renovated Mitchell Park Domes, 524 S. Layton Blvd. Featured activities include "green talks" on subjects ranging from garden wine-making and how to identify green materials to fair trade and Milwaukee County's Green Initiative. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $5.50 for adults, $4 for seniors with proof of Milwaukee County residency, $4 for kids age 6 to 17, and free for kids age 5 and younger. 2 Ever wonder about the story behind a portrait or photograph at the Milwaukee Art Museum? Find out the tale behind a work in the museum's galleries today during Story Time in the Galleries: Portraits, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The group will meet at the museum's admission desk. Regular admission fees apply. 3 While you're in the mood for art, swing by St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2618 N. Hackett Ave. The cityscapes, landscapes and portraits of painter Anthony Suminski are on display in the art gallery, near the Guild Hall at the church. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon. It's free and open to the public. Prints and originals are for sale. While you're there, consider placing an order in the church's annual flower sale. The deadline for orders is Sunday. After errands They're Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets, and this time remember: "Dry Clean Only." That's the name of the new show the singers are bringing to a monthlong run at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway. It's doo-wop as you remember it, everything from the swoons of "Where the Boys Are" to the mild naughtiness of "Splish Splash." But never fear: This is an all-ages show filled with four-part harmonies and humor. Saturday's show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults; $28 for seniors and $25 each for groups of 10 or more. |
